ORGANIC BAMBOO FABRIC

I am Made from…

I am made from the stems of bamboo which has been declared a grass under the India Forest Act (The Hindu,
23rd November 2017). Just like grass, bamboo’s ripe stems are harvested so that new onescan grow.

These harvested woody stems and leaves are treated to generate a mushy mass of fibers which is diligently
spun into yarn.I am thus born.

My sustainability quotient

  • Bamboo is grown without the use of pesticides
  • Bamboo has a fast-growing rate
  • Bamboo’s water consumption is negligible compared to my friend cotton
  • My journey from raw material to fabric is certified by my seller via Ecological Plant Fibre

ORGANIC ORANGE FABRIC

I am Made from…

I am made from orange peel! My birth process was discovered by Adriana Santanocito – a fashion design
student in Milan – along with Enrica Arena, an International Communication and Cooperation student, with the
support of the Polytechnic University of Milan.

They extracted cellulose from citrus waste, made fibre, spun it and weaved me into an innovative silk-like,
bio-degradable fibre.

My sustainability quotient

  • I give new life to pastazzo – organic peel waste from citrus fruits- which usually piles up in
landfills. Cellulose from these peels is extracted to make me. I have won several national and
international awards for being eco- friendly and biodegradable fabric.
  • According to various researchs done on orange fabric, it has been ascertained that Adriana and
Enrica used Nanotechnology and microencapsulation techniques to retain the beneficial properties of
citrus fruis on to the fabric which hold good up to 20 washes.
